 Uberwintern Fat Bike Festival 2019

 January 9, 2019  Alan O'Neil

The Uberwintern Fat Bike Festival 2019 featuring the one and only Caddy Hill in Stowe, Vermont. This year Uberwintern kicked off its event at Ranch Camp base. A full service bike shop in Stowe that features delicious Vermont craft brews and burritos. Fortunately, Ranch Camp sits also sits directly at the base of Caddy Hill’s amazing mountain biking trails.

So, it all began as we checked in, received our drink/meal tickets, and then proceeded to the demo setup in Ranch Camp’s parking lot. The first demo setup I noticed was Bicycle Express Vermont’s green and blue tent full of Kona Fat Bikes. Consequently, we each picked out our Kona Fat Bikes and hit the trails!

The journey to Von Trapp Brewery begins!

One of the best parts about Uberwintern Fat Bike Festival 2019 is the journey to the Von Trapp Brewery. To clarify Caddy Hill’s trail system is quite large, as it expands all over Stowe. Specifically, for this festival the Uberwintern Fat Bike participants made the trip from Ranch Camp’s trail head all the way to Von Trapp Brewery.

It’s an incredible journey to say the least. If you have never been fat biking before, it’s hard to explain. However, I will try, just imagine back country skiing and mountain biking combined. One of the most unique outdoor experiences winter has to offer here in Vermont. Especially, when the skiing conditions aren’t up to par.

Uberwintern Fat Bike Festival 2019: Great Success!

Upon arriving to the Von Trapp Brewery let’s just say the party had started. Fat Bike participants of all experience levels sipped on delicious Von Trapp brews and sat by the fire to warm up. So many memories and friendships were built throughout this great festival.

Thank you to specifically the Vermont Mountain Bike Association for putting on the Uberwintern Fat Bike Festival 2019. It was a great success as so many people came out and enjoyed fat biking for either the first time or hundredth time. The experience was amazing, and I cannot wait until 2020!
